Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais, a Republican, campaigned around the city promising to cut taxes, calling himself the “only candidate” that wouldn’t raise your taxes. Despite that, he proposed a tax hike that was even bigger than the one given to the city by former Democrat Mayor Joyce Craig and the overwhelmingly Democrat Board of Aldermen. Even the compromise budget he worked on with Alderman Pat Long had a bigger tax hike than Craig’s.

Rich not only details Ruais’ tax cut promises, using his own campaign literature, he exposes how Ruais sabotaged the efforts of Republican aldermen to bring forward a budget that actually DID cut taxes and shares the tactical gaffe that kept that budget from being presented.

Along the way, Rich lays bare the lies pushed by the “more money crowd” to demand higher funding for schools, despite collapsing enrollment and massive spending increases.
