Ann Marie Banfield, education liaison for Cornerstone, joined Sid today and discussed a topic that receives very little scrutiny in our schools — technology. Considering the amount of money that school districts invest in technology there has been very little in-depth discussion about its influence on how students learn or teachers teach. Like the Common Core, technology was embraced by school people, boards of education and community members who were blinded by the “sales claims” made by those who comprise the technology juggernaut. At this time there is no acceptable research that supports the claims of the technology industry that say computers in classrooms improve the learning environment of our students.
