Forrester: Health plan to be released
G O P gubernatorial candidate Senator Chair Jeanie Forrester of Meredith will announce her health care plan on during a press conference at the New England Innovation Center in Portsmouth tomorrow at eleven. Forrester has been critical of rivals Mayor Ted Gatsas and Executive Councilor Christopher Sununu for their refusal to take the Americans For Prosperity Pledge which includes a promise to repeal the state’s Expanded Medicaid program, a program she voted to create three years ago, but voted against reauthorizing earlier this past year. Once they release the details, we’ll let you now. The press conference is open to the public.
Sununu: Read for the job?
Forrester also took some well earned shots at Sununu and Governor Margaret Wood Hassan over the Good News Garage debacle. Since District Five Executive Councilor David Wheeler questioned the state’s contract with the charity that receives and rehabilitates used cars to give to poor people, a lot’s been learned, like they’re selling cars they don’t need without a used car dealer license. Wheeler initially questioned why the state was paying the charity nearly two million dollars to provide free vehicles to qualifying low income recipients. Referencing the very controversial retroactive contract granted to Planned Parenthood Forrester said Good News Garage being shut down is the latest blunder in the state contracting process that has resulted in an embarrassing situation for Hassan and Sununu.
While commending Wheeler, Forrester faulted Sununu for having the same lack of understanding and accountability for state contracts as Hassan. Said Forrester quote:
“This is another reason Councilor Sununu is not ready for the job of Governor.”
I-293 exits 6 & 7: DoT hearing tonight
The state Department of Transportation will hold a Combined Open House and Public Officials/Public Informational Meeting for community input on proposed changes to exits six and seven on I-2 9 3 tonight in the auditorium at Manchester Community College beginning at six. The state has been taking a long overdue look at redoing the Amoskeag Rotary and Exit 7 interchanges and is holding tonight’s meeting to present revisions to previous plans and solicit additional feedback and generally share information about the project with the public.
Crystal Lake: Closed again
In what has to be a template press release from the Manchester Health Department, it announced that the public beach at Crystal Lake has once again been closed due to elevated E. coli bacterial levels found in routine water samples taken on Monday. No swimming will be allowed until levels return to normal. Samples taken from the rest of the lake were just fine. The department took more samples yesterday. They’ll let us know when it’s okay to swim, then we’ll let you know when it’s okay to swim. That’s how it works.

Elchabbi: Foreigner
The man arrested for trying to scale a security fence around Manchester Boston Regional Airport wasn’t an American. Twenty two year old Mohamed Elchabbi, whose address was listed as “homeless in Manchester” after being arrested by the Londonderry Police Department was admitted to the country from Jordan two years ago on his father’s visa according to police, who said they believed Elchabbi acted alone in trying to scale the fence. In announcing the arrest, police said they believed Elchabbi’s actions resulted from mental illness, not malicious intent. Elchabbi was arrested and charged with Attempt to Commit Criminal Trespass, Resisting Arrest/ Detention, Disorderly Conduct and Simple Assault. He was held on five thousand dollars cash bail.
Kristie: Apprehended
The Derry Police Department in conjunction with the N H Internet Crimes against Children Task Force, consisting of officers from the Portsmouth, Hampton, Salem, Mont Vernon, and Rye police departments, the Strafford County Sheriff’s Department, Department of Homeland Security and Newbury, M A Police Department, executed a search warrant at 17 South Main St # 3 in Derry. This search was related to an ongoing investigation involving the allegation of enticing a child under the age of 16. The investigation began as a Massachusetts Internet Crimes against Children Task Force report. During the search several computers and other digital devices were seized. Computer forensic examinations were conducted on those devices. Arrested at the scene was forty four year old Jonathan Kristie, who was charged with being a Fugitive from Justice. Kristie went before Derry District Court and held without bail. He is scheduled for further arraignment this morning.
Chief McGillen: Will wall block crushing crime wave?
The latest stats are out on the crushing Candia’s Crime Wave. Candia’s cops released last month’s crime tallies and they tell a tragic tale. One hundred sixty motor vehicle warnings were given by Candia’s finest last month, as were ten, count them, ten motor vehicle summonses. Eight people were arrested on charges ranging from prowling, to assault, to drug possession, to driving under suspension, to Attempt to Commit Burglary and Possession of Burglary Tools. Of the eight arrested, only two were from Candia, prompting Police Chief Mike McGillen, once again, to call for a wall to be built around the town’s borders. McGillen noted how effective the walls at the Democratic Convention in making his case, yet again!
