MANCHESTER, NH – This afternoon Manchester Mayor Theodore L. Gatsas released the following statement about the officer shooting in Manchester and the subsequent apprehension of Ian MacPherson:
“Let me begin by acknowledging Chief Nick Willard and the men and women of the Manchester Police Department for their swift response to this morning’s incident. They worked quickly to ensure the safety of city residents and immediately began the search and investigation to apprehend the subject.”
“Two Manchester Police Officers were injured in the early morning incident. Officer Matthew O’Connor has been released from the hospital. Officer Ryan Hardy remains in the hospital in stable condition. Our hearts and prayers go out to these officers and their families. Both Officer O’Connor and Officer Hardy are heroes and Manchester thanks them for their commitment and service to the city.”
“This remains an active investigation being led by the Office of the Attorney General. They, in cooperation with the Manchester Police Department, have apprehended the suspect, Ian MacPherson, and he remains in police custody.”
“I would also like to thank the west side residents for their cooperation throughout this incident. While this remains an active investigation I, along with Chief Willard, want to assure the west side residents and all city residents that the city is safe.”
