Sid GlassnerJim Horn, Professor of Education Leadership Doctoral Studies at Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts joined Sid today to discuss his new book which is to be released the 28th of February entitled, Work Hard, Be Hard: Journeys Through ‘No Excuses’ Teaching. Professor Horn, in his book, explores  the creation and spread of “No Excuses” charter schools such as the Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP) charter school chain which consists of 183 schools spread across the United States (none in New Hampshire).  Teachers who experienced abuses such as psychological brutality and physical stresses share their stories with Professor Horn.  We also learn what it is like for a student at KIPP and what it means to live in a pedagogical straight jacket and absorb moments of humiliation.
