Rich started the segment by thanking his anchors, sponsors and his listeners for being a part of the show. He spoke about one of his previous jobs before he talked to us about the Zero controversy concerning the Smarter Balanced Assessments. He then introduced Sid Glassner and they discussed the issue of head lice and the next generation of science standards.

(Hour 3b) We continued in Is Our Children Learning with Sid Glassner, Senior Fellow with the New England Society for the Study of Education, on the topic of the next generation of science standards and the nature of professional development for teachers. Sid wondered about the cost and the benefit of it and gave his opinion of how the results have been thus far.

(Hour 3c) Rich and Sid talked about transparency within the school system. Sid pointed out the importance of having a follow-through. He talked about Parents Involved in Education and the pledge that they are campaigning with. He pointed out that public education has been crippled. He told us that we have a civil right to keep the children away from the testing. Tune in to hear more.
