Veterans, their families and the general public are invited to join the Department of Veterans Affairs Manchester Medical Center as we honor and celebrate Veterans
Manchester, N.H. Manchester Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center plans to Celebrate Veterans Day November 9-12th. In honor of Veterans Day, Manchester VA Medical Center offers everyone an opportunity to express their appreciation to those who served.
“At Manchester VA, it is our purpose is to fulfill President Lincoln’s promise ‘To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan’ by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s Veterans,” said Danielle S. Ocker, Acting Medical Center Director. “Staff honor America’s Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well-being. It is critical we ensure all Veterans know we are thankful for their service. To accomplish this, we have planned events to recognize all Veterans by offering our personal thanks.”
During the week of November 9th, the medical center will be hosting many activities and we invite the community to attend.

On Monday, November 9th, the medical center will host a Veterans’ Stories “In the Voices of Veterans” panel starting at 11:00 am in the T & E.
On Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th, the City of Manchester will hold its annual Veterans Day Parade. Staff who are participating will meet at the Brady Sullivan Building on Elm Street in Manchester at 10:00 am. The parade offers medical center staff and their families a chance to stand together and march in support of those who secured our freedom by serving their country in the armed forces. It also serves as a tremendous way to visually demonstrate to Veterans how much the Manchester VA Medical Center cares about Veterans. Please feel free to join us!
On Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th Manchester VA Medical Center, will have an observation of Veterans Day with a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m., and we are delighted to be offering a Manchester VA Medical Center Veterans Day Program at 2pm in the Granite State Room, Community Living Center followed by a social, all are welcome! Plans include an acoustical prelude, color guard, Pledge of Allegiance led by the Community Living Center Residents, remarks and a special Wreath Presentation to the Veterans of the Community Living Center. This will all be followed by a festive celebration including Ms. New Hampshire, Elvis Presley and topped off with ice cream and apple pie. It is about as American as it can get! Plan to join us! We plan to have participation from our Volunteers, Veterans and Community Partners to make the day as special as the Veterans we serve!
Thursday, November 12th, we are inviting Veterans and staff to enjoy the WMUR news re-broadcast from our Community Living Center Resident, Mr. Jowders’ Flightless Honor Flight followed by a viewing of the video documentary WWII Monument: A Testament to Freedom.
