Manchester Police Chief Enoch “Nick” Willard is proud to announce our annual National Take Back Day, which will take place on Saturday September 26, 2015 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The United States Drug Enforcement Administration, Diversion Control Program coordinates the annual program so people can properly dispose of prescription medication.
The Manchester Police Department has partnered with the Elliot Health System, Catholic Medical Center and the New Hampshire National Guard Counter Drug Task Force, so we will have three separate drop-off locations. The DEA can accept pills and patches but cannot accept liquids, needles, or sharps. Our goal is to have every citizen turn in their unused, expired or unwanted prescription medication, so it can be safely discarded. The three drop off locations are;
The Elliot Pharmacy at River’s Edge
175 Queen City Avenue
New Hampshire National Guard Armory
771 Canal Street
Catholic Medical Center parking lot,
Located south of the parking garage
Last year, the National Take Back Day program included over 4,000 law enforcement agencies with over 5,400 collection sites. Over 309 tons of prescription drugs (617,150 lbs.) were properly disposed of and kept out of reach of unintended people, such as kids and others who may have a drug addiction/dependency. This FREE program is important because it means less availability of prescription medication.
We hope to see you on Saturday September 26th at any one of the three drop off locations!
