Dr. Deborah Duncan Owen, author of the new book entitled, “Origins of the Common Core” and an Associate Professor of Literacy at Elmira College in Elmira, New York shared her work and her ideas about the present direction public education is taking—– especially with regard to the Common Core Standards which may be the most controversial education reform initiative in American history. Careful thought was given to both the corporate and federal assault on America’s public school system. It was clearly established that amateurs with desires to control public education’s 600 billion dollar budget have mislead the public into believing that all public education is in the midst of a sever crisis that only they can resolve.
