It was evident from the beginning of the show that substantive differences existed between Pondiscio and Sid regarding the education of children in public schools. Pondiscio, a supporter of the work of E.D. Hirsch, the founder of the Core Knowledge Foundation that proposes to know “What Every American Needs to Know” is considered by Sid to be an exercise in pomposity. When Pondiscio was asked what is it that parents will know about their children after the high-stakes tests results will be made public conceded that was a good but difficult question to answer. We will have to wait on that one!
