Sid Glassner joined us this morning for Is Our Children Learning. They kicked off the segment talking about twenty first century skills. Rich told us about a parent of a child from Mount Zion Christian Schools who is dealing with the issue right now. Rich, Sid and Jon DiPietro (Who called in) give their perspective on the note. Sid kicked off the second segment discussing a series of problems stemming from the “new wave” of skills. Sid is against the notion of schools dropping cursive writing. He explained some of the reasons why it’s important to keep this skill in the school curriculum. Sid also touched on Common Core.

The third segment started with a conversation about the Smarter Balanced Assessment. Sid told us that people have to rise up and say, “No more!” If we have learned anything from Common Core it is the fact that there has to be a greater sense of skepticism, which we are not yet getting. We need a greater grassroots presence. Tune in to hear more.
