Writing

What is up with police speak?  Does every press release from police departments and line reads have to sound like an episode of Dragnet?

Rich, who has thirty years of experience writing all manner of copy, discussed the surprisingly difficult topic of proper writing.  The subject peaked the interest of Jim Gaudet, who called in to contribute the following:  “A poor craftsman blames his tools.”

Are we teaching enough writing in schools?  With the advent of the electronic age, spell check and the like, have we, as writers become intellectually lazy and creatively bankrupt?
