(Hour 1a) Were you under the impression that schools were bound to take the Smarter Balanced Assessment? Turns out NO school districts are bound to the test. Also, it sounds as though there are conflicting reports as far as who is really opting out of the Smarter Balanced Test, and what methods of communication are acceptable to use when opting out. Rich tackles these misconceptions and more!

I’m fighting it in Hudson…I was told by my mid school principal not allowed to opt out , but another friend with a kid in the 3rd grade was told by school official there it was ok to opt out as per District Policy! Conflicting reports between schools seems almost on purpose to confuse everyone… Took multiple emails to my school to get a response, needed to post on their Facebook site to get a response ASAP. I am awaiting another one now from my again REFUSAL to allow this testing of my child.
