Przybyla: Has been found
We open with some good news from the town of Bedford. Doris Przybyla, the seventy four year old woman who went missing while driving during Wednesday’s storm has been found. There were no details of where she was or how she was found released by police officials other than that she’d been located yesterday afternoon.
The Manchester Health Department offices at 15 28 Elm St. opened last night at 6 to serve as a public regional warming and charging station for Goffstown, New Boston and Dunbarton residents. Folks have to bring their own food if they want to snack while warming up but are able to use the potty and charge their phones and other portable electronic devices.
Safety officials in Bedford have opened their safety complex to residents as a warming station who don’t have electricity or water.
Meanwhile, fire officials in the town of Milford are advising that their residents can take advantage of the emergency shelter opened by the American Red Cross in the city of Nashua at Nashua High School North last night. This shelter is “Pet-Friendly” and will be able to provide some support to those with medical needs. Those relocating to shelters need to bring any and all of the following personal items: bedding, dietary required foods, snacks, personal hygiene items, medications, games, books, and toys to occupy children. Pets must have a crate, food, and leashes.
Trained medical staff will be available to help with medical needs, but the shelters are not intended to take the place of a hospital. They are intended for those who have minor medical conditions that are stable but who require daily assistance, such as medicine administration, dressing changes or who are oxygen dependent. Caregivers must accompany the individual. Items to bring include medical equipment and oxygen tanks, all medication and supplies, personal items, any special foods or liquids for dietary needs, and important documents, such as phone numbers and insurance information. Milford residents should call 6 7 3 1 4 1 4 for additional detail.
Multiple police departments in the region are reporting multiple road closures. A big one to be aware of is that the traffic signals at routes 101 and 114 in Bedford are still inoperable. Police in towns with heavy outages are urging motorists to stay off the roads unless necessary.
PSNH: Working to restore power
Public Service Company of New Hampshire has said that more than two hundred thousand of its customers had lost power. Since the peak, the number of people customers without power has fallen to under one hundred forty thousand. Between employees and contractors, P S N H says they have three hundred personnel working to clear the damage and restore power. They say they’ve requested five hundred more crewmen to assist the restoration efforts and are expecting crews from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New York, Quebec and Ontario to arrive today and tomorrow. Metzler: Show me respect
Timberlane Regional School District Superintendent Earl Metzler says he’s tired of the spin that school board member Donna Green and her budget committee member husband Arthur Green put on information they’re presenting to the public and that his emails are one way of making sure the selectmen know there is another side to the story.
In a story published by our compatriots at the Tri-Town Times, Metzler also said he has no intention of changing his tone until he receives respect. What he termed the accusatory manner, disrespect and condescension the Greens show on a regular basis is a roadblock to a better relationship, he said. Tri-Town Times reporter Matt Rittenhouse quotes Metzler as saying “If you’re respectful, then I’m respectful,”end quote and writes Metzler indicated that the behavior of the Greens was infuriating and the district had had enough. He also complained that the positive emails he has sent to the Greens have been ignored.
In the article, Metzler is again quoted as referring to the Greens as “wasted representation,” saying he has no intention of stopping his email updates and hopes all board and committee members can work together constructively.
