Attention Manchester residents & commuters!
Traffic Advisory: Â Manchester Marathon on Sunday, November 2nd – Expect Significant Road Closures and Traffic Delays.
The Manchester City Marathon, which will greatly impact traffic in the City, will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014. The marathon starts at 8:50 AM and will last roughly till 2:30 PM.
Elm St will be closed from Bridge St to Lake for the entire length of the event. There will be significant delays crossing the Granite St Bridge and the Bridge St Bridge will be closed for a portion of the day. Motorists wishing to cross the Merrimack River are urged to use the Amoskeag Bridge or the Queen City Bridge.
The marathon encompasses the entire City but will cause more significant traffic problems in the following areas:
The Mill Yard (Commercial St and Spring St)
River Rd
Hooksett Rd in the area of Livingston Park
Hanover St from Candia Rd to Elm St
Mammoth Rd from Bridge St to Lake Ave
S Main St from Walker St to Varney St
McGregor Square from Bridge St to Bremer St
Travel across Hanover St from Maple St to Elm St will be restricted and should be avoided.
If a motorist needs to cross the City it would be best to take the interstate around the City instead. There will be strict parking restrictions in place during the race.
– Both sides of Elm Street between Lake Ave and Amherst St
– South side of Merrimack St between Chestnut St and Elm St
– North side of Central St between Barrister Ln and Elm St
– Both sides of Hanover St between Chestnut and Elm
– North side of Hanover St between Page St and East Side Plaza
– West side of Commercial St from Arms Park to Spring St
Also , please observe all posted parking restrictions. Any vehicle parked contrary to these restrictions, or any other posted no parking zones, will be towed at the owner’s expense.
