Mayor Ted Gatsas(Hour 3a, b)

(Hour 3a) Jon DiPietro called in to share four observations from last night’s School Board meeting.  He was very critical of Dr. Bob Greenleaf’s micro feedback formative assessments that put more paperwork between teachers and students.  Also, of conversations about making schools more convenient for the teachers, with no mention of students.

Mayor Ted Gatsas had much to say about the implementation of the new academic standards.  Teachers aren’t happy, to say the least.

(Hour 3b) Gatsas shared his perspective on the current contract talks with Manchester teachers.  They’ve already rejected 3 tentative agreements.

Will the fourth time be the charm?

Gatsas discussed the difficult “give and take” process of negotiating union contracts, the substitute teacher shortages, parents tired of constant disruptions in classrooms and MSD’s Hands Off Policy.
