In a joint press release issued by the school district, police department and firedepartment, officials in Goffstown sounded warnings about a dangerous dare high school kids, including some at Goffstown High,
are playing on social media outlets. It’s called Polar Plunge and it entails kids jumping into frigid bodies of water in their local areas and calling out kids in other areas to do the same. Of course, the whole plunge is captured on video so it can be shown in various venues. School Superintendent Brian Balke said the district obviously didn’t condone the behavior and stated his primary concern was the quote unquote calling out of others to participate stating quote “peer pressure of this nature is unacceptable in our schools.” End quote. Police Captain Rob Browne urged parents to raise the issue with their kids saying that not only is the water extremely cold, it’s moving very fast because of the spring melt. Fire Lt. Bill O’Connor reiterated the warning about the spring melt making things much colder and faster than normal adding that deteriorating surface ice and unseen underwater hazards present a high risk of injury or death. O’Connor said people need to be aware of the hazard caused by the extreme cold, which could cause immediate cramping, disorientation, respiratory distress and sudden cardiac arrest. All in all, this sounds like a really bad idea so grab your kids before they get hurt doing something stupid they learn about it the hard way. Remember, it’s called Polar Plunge and it’s spreading through social media.

G O P gubernatorial candidate Andrew Hemingway is going on a tour of New Hampshire, a manufacturing tour that is. Beginning today, Hemingway will visit manufacturers across the state as part of his Manufacture N H Tour. Said Hemingway, quote: “Some businesses have done an excellent job creating jobs and products in the Granite State and I want to see what these New Hampshire Manufacturers do and learn from them what they need, or do not need, from the state to help them continue down a path of success. Unfortunately, we have seen a massive loss of manufacturing jobs in the past ten years. I hope this tour of some of the successes in New Hampshire helps me to understand exactly what we need to do to grow this market place in the Granite State.”
Meanwhile, G O P U S Senate candidate Jim Rubens, who’s been on all kinds of themed tours in recent weeks, announced a list of so called Liberty Activists, some would say Free Staters, who’ve endorsed his campaign.
