(Hour 2c) Aurore Eaton raved about the book “The Sea Captain’s Wife,” penned by Professor (… read more…) Martha Hodes. One of the characters in the book was named Eunice. Eunice worked at the Amoskeag Mills in the 1860’s in Manchester and the book tells the story of her journey South during the Civil War and her mixed-race marriage with William Smiley Connolly from the Camen Islands. The book tells us some great history of our City from the 1800’s and our beloved History Lady highly recommends it!
