(Hour 3b, c) Dr. Tom Brennan called in to stress the importance of transparency in the development of Academic Standards in Manchester, “Even if it takes longer.” Is there a bias towards Common Core on the development team? Tom believes a balanced committee would most certainly be the best approach. Brennan also had more to say on parents’ involvement, or lack of involvement, in the educational process. How big a problem is it? What are the biggest barriers in the public schools? Jim and Tom also discussed refugees, immigrants and teachable moments.
