We often hear of how many educators are afraid to speak out against the bureaucracy that’s imposing Common Core on them and pushing it into their classrooms. Educators in New York State, which is “ahead of the national curve” in implementing Common Core, are on the verge of an all out insurrection. Clearly, the teacher who spoke at this hearing is more worried about the kids she teaches and the advent of what’s now being called “Common Core Syndrome” than she is about her job. This exemplifies what Winston Chruchill meant when he said courage is the most important virtue because it secures all others.
