(Hour 2a, 3a) Rich detailed the presentation by NH Commissioner of Education Virginia Barry last night. She claims that, “we haven’t adopted Common Core, we’ve only endorsed it.” If that’s true, why are the ED-306 rules governing NH Public Schools already aligning the standards? What will the costs be? Sparks flew at the meeting. Those not amused included State Senator David Boutin, Mayor Ted Gatsas and Dr. Julianne Cooper. Find out what was said and which questions remain unanswered. Dave from Hooksett called in to comment (Hour 2a).

Do these people know how ridiculous they sound?
After last night’s presentation It’s unlikely the Manchester School Committee will even bother to ask Commissioner Virginia Barry to come and address their members and dodge their questions. There are no answers when truth is subjective: The State of NH never “adopted” Common CORE. There are no State-recognized costs to districts implementing Common CORE. There are no concerns over data-mining of private student information. There are no punitive actions taken over statewide assessment scores. Forget priority and focus schools, remediation, or tying performance scores to teacher evaluations. N o child has ever been “shot” says Virginia Barry. What more transparency could the public possibly expect from the Department of Education?
Well, it wasn’t exactly an interactive forum, except for the dialogue started by the mayor. If Manchester decides not to have the commissioner come, that might not be a bad thing.
