It’s Buckle Up New Hampshire Week!!

It’s Buckle Up New Hampshire Week!!

MANCHESTER, NH- On Monday, May 13, 2013, the Buckle Up New Hampshire Coalition, funded and supported through the NH Highway Safety Agency, kicked off its Buckle Up New Hampshire Week to encourage increased seatbelt usage.

Partnering with the New Hampshire Motor Speedway and The Mill 96.5 radio station, Manchester Police participated in a promotional effort to promote the importance of using passenger and child restraint systems any time and every time you are in a motor vehicle.

Motorists passing through the intersection of Lake Avenue and Elm Street on Monday afternoon might have noticed an increased police presence as members of the Manchester Traffic Unit engaged drivers and passengers alike, encouraging seatbelt use.

Drivers and passengers found using proper passenger restraints were ticketed!!  But there weren’t too many complaints since the “tickets” were actually 2 free passes to attend NH Motor Speedway’s New Hampshire 300 race on Sunday, July 14, 2013.  Milo the Moose and other staff members from the speedway, along with on-air personalities from The Mill 96.5 radio station, were thrilled to offer 300 complimentary tickets to the race in an ongoing, cooperative effort to get people to buckle up.

Representatives from ChaD’s Highway Safety and Injury Prevention Center, along with the Allstate Foundation’s Teen Safe Driving Program joined the coalition’s efforts today in hopes that this event, along with additional activities and promotional efforts throughout the upcoming week can encourage drivers to buckle up and save lives!

Teens Robbed of I-pod/Cell Phone

MANCHESTER, NH- On Monday, February 11, 2013, at about 6:30 PM, Manchester Police responded to a Clay Street address for a report of a robbery.  On arrival, they met with two 16 year old Manchester teens who reported they had been the victims of a robbery a short time earlier on Somerville Street, near Belmont Street.

According to the boys, they were walking in the area when they were approached by two men, one of whom demanded their belongings, indicating his companion had a gun, although no gun was observed.

One of the boys surrendered his I-pod Nano and Galaxy S3 cell phone and the men left.  They were last seen leaving the area as passengers in an older, dark colored 4-door sedan operated by a third individual who was possibly wearing a red sweatshirt.

The first suspect was described as a white male in his forties, about 6’3” tall with a slender build and dark “stubble” on his face.  He was last seen wearing a dark colored vest and a green “beanie” style hat.  The second man, alleged to have possessed a gun, was described as a clean-shaven white male in his forties with an average height and build.  He was last seen wearing a camouflage shirt and khaki pants.
