Home Burglarized as Residents Do Yard Work

MANCHESTER, NH- On Saturday, May 04, 2013, at about 3:30 PM, Manchester Police responded to a Somerville Street address for a report of a burglary.  On arrival, police met with a couple who reported that they had just discovered a laptop and digital camera missing from the house.

According to the residents, they had been in the back yard doing yard work and other chores for most of the day.  They speculate that the burglar(s) was able to access the residence via the front door, since the main door was open with the screen door in place due to the beautiful weather.  The laptop and digital camera were in the front room and easily accessible from the front door.

Manchester Police understand the warming weather invites residents to use their screen windows and doors but residents need to be mindful of the security risks.  As illustrated in this instance, windows and doors secured only with screens allow easy, quick access to areas of the home that may not be monitored at any given time by residents.
