Bottle “Bomb” Thrown from Passing Vehicle

MANCHESTER, NH- On Wednesday, May 01, 2013, at about 7:15 PM, Manchester Police responded to the area of Maple Street and Auburn Street for a report of suspicious activity.  On arrival, Ofc. Din Jenkins met with a Manchester man who pointed out some debris on the sidewalk at the northeast corner of the intersection.

Ofc Jenkins examined remnants of an apparent bottle “bomb” which included a portion of a plastic bottle, some tin foil and an unknown yellow substance.  According to the man, he was seated in the stands at Central Little League when he heard a loud bang and went over to the intersection the check things out.  Another witness reported seeing the bottle being tossed from the passenger side window of a small red vehicle traveling west on Auburn Street through the intersection.

Fortunately, no one was in the vicinity of where the bottle landed but Manchester Police did want to warn residents that these bottle “bombs” are the result of a chemical reaction and often contain toxic ingredients that can cause skin and inhalation irritations.
