Kindergarten Participates in Reading Program and
Attempt at World Record
On October 4, the president of St. Anselm College, Father Jonathan DeFelice, came to visit our Kindergarten class to read The Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad, by David Somen and Jackie Davis. He did this in conjunction with college presidents across the state of NH, as part of the “2012 Reading for the Record,” an event coordinated by Jumpstart, to break the world record of the most people reading the same book on the same day. Fr. Jonathan thought it would be special to read to our children in Kindergarten since St. Benedict Academy has such a special relationship with St. Anselm College.
Fr. Jonathan as well as a representative from the Union Leader who came to document our participation (did you see the Friday, October 5 paper?!?) were so impressed with our kindergartners who showed such graceful manners, attentiveness and participation!
First Grade Apple Fest
The first grade celebrated the Fall season and learned about the changing seasons with their annual Apple Fest celebration! All of the children participated by bringing in their own special apple treat and shared it with the classroom during their “Apple Fest Feast!”
Many thanks to the parents who baked, shopped, volunteered their time, and participated in this event!
Third and First Graders
Lead Prayer Service
to Honor Our Blessed Mother
Following Mass with Father Jerome, the Third and First Graders did a beautiful job on Tuesday, October 3 as they led a prayer service in honor of our Blessed Mother Mary. Taking turns, they presented all of the mysteries of the Holy Rosary to our school community through scripture and beautiful drawings. They finished the service with song.
What a wonderful job they did!
Let Us Know!!
This year, we’d like to try adding some things to help enhance home and school e-communications. Do you use Facebook? Be sure to “Like US” and let us know if you have any ideas of things we could include in this periodic newsletter, the school website or our Facebook page. For example, at the end of October, we will add the school lunch menu to the website in advance of the Wednesday folder. Let us know what else we can try.
We are still in a learning process and feedback is helpful!
