Derry New Hampshire: The Basics
Although it was first settled by Scottish-Irish (also known as Ulster-Scots) families in 1719, Derry was not incorporated until 1827. It was originally a part of Londonderry, as was Windham and portions of Manchester, Salem and Hudson. The town was named after the city of Derry in Ireland, the Irish word “Doire” meaning “oak woods.” The first potato planted in the United States was planted here in 1719. The town is the location of two of America’s oldest private schools, Pinkerton Academy, founded in 1814 and still in operation, and the closed Adams Female Seminary. ( Source Wikipedia ) |

The police contract won’t last the term before Ted will be back looking to renegotiate it for more savings. If you completed the conversion of all of Manchester housing to multi-family rentals, as Ted is leading the charge, then the taxes collected by 45,800 apartments won’t pay for the police, fire, or school without massive state and federal aid. City unions should just project revenue from the nation’s first all-rental community and adjust their staffing and budgets now. Go Ted!
