Girard Files for Manchester State Senate Seat

MANCHESTER, NH June 10, 2022—Manchester Republican Rich Girard announced he has filed to run for the state senate in District 20, which now includes city wards 2, 3, 4, 10, 11 and 12.  Redistricting removed Goffstown from the district and added wards 2 and 12.  Democrat Lou D’Allesandro has held the seat since 1998.

“Ronald Reagan once said ‘Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.  We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream.  It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.’  As I look around at the political battles being fought today, I’m convinced that our individual liberties and freedoms are at great risk from national and global big government forces that would take them away so they can better control our lives.  I’ve decided to run for the state senate to join that battle in the halls of government to defend and expand those freedoms whenever necessary and wherever possible.

“Governor Sununu and the Republican led legislature have accomplished remarkable things, but they have done so by the thinnest of margins.  At times, good legislation has failed by those same thin margins.  I don’t believe Manchester’s citizens are well represented by the three Democrats who’ve opposed this successful agenda at every turn and my candidacy will offer voters a clear choice.”

Girard said his focus will be on putting an end to the catch and release bail laws that have helped fuel crime in Manchester, better enabling law enforcement and the courts to  remove and keep criminals off the streets, encouraging school choice, reducing taxes and regulation wherever possible, keeping an eye on the state budget and expanding the availability of mental health services.  Girard said he will oppose any broad-based income or sales tax.

Girard also pledged to defend and advance the causes of Life, the Second Amendment and voter integrity.  He will continue to oppose  the use CRT (Critical Race Theory) training in schools, government workplaces and with government contractors.  Girard also said he will support efforts to prohibit banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions from using politically correct “social credit scoring” (aka ESG scoring) when determining whether or not to lend money, issue insurance policies, process payments, invest capital or otherwise transact business.

“I will put my experience at City Hall and fighting for our city’s neighborhoods to good use in the state senate.  I will make sure the powers that be understand how their decisions impact our city and its neighborhoods and will be especially involved with legislation that impacts crime, education and the city’s property taxpayers.”

Girard is a fourth generation Manchester native.  He and his wife Jennifer have been married for twenty five (25) years and have five children ranging in age from 10 to 22.  Professionally, Girard’s helped families with debt management, investments and insurances for twenty (20) years.
