Russell: Wanted in bat attack
Manchester police are looking for the public’s help to locate thirty year old Robert Russell of 10 Canterbury Way in Merrimack. He’s wanted for three counts of first degree assault after attacking and adult male and female in their early forties and a sixteen year old male with a bat at about one fifteen on Friday morning. The adult couple was on their rear porch at 2 7 4 West Hancock Street when Russell is alleged to have attacked them. The boy was attacked as he tried to pry the bat out of Russell’s hands. Russell who is described as six feet tall, with a thin build, blue eyes and brown hair, fled on foot before police arrived. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Manchester Police Department at 6 6 8 8 7 1 1 or Manchester Crime Line at 6 2 4 4 0 4 0 where your tip could lead to a cash reward if it leads to Russell’s arrest. McCormack: Charged in overdose death
New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph Foster, Department of Safety Commissioner John Barthelmes, and Wolfeboro Police Chief Stuart Chase announced the arrest of twenty six year old Tanya McCormack, of Effingham for “Acts Prohibited relating to the sale of the controlled drug fentanyl.” Why are we telling you this? Why should you care? Well, because her sale of fentanyl caused the overdose death of Cole McMahon on September 1st of last year and, if convicted of the charges, McCormack could spend the rest of her life in jail as a result.
Wilson St. Fire: An accident
The furious fire on Wilson Street that torched a nine unit building and claimed the lives of four tenants has been ruled an accident. Investigators said the fire that killed thirty three year old Josh Harrison, thirty nine year old Ailene Moody, ten year old Joshua Harrison, Jr. and eight year old Jay Michael Garon was caused by smoking materials left smoldering on upholstered furniture on the second floor porch. Smoke inhalation was determined to be the cause of death by the state’s medical examiner.
Victims memorialized
In a press release, State Fire Marshall Bill Degnan said the couch smoldered for about an hour and a half before bursting into flames and that once the transition occurred, the smoke and fire moved rapidly through the exterior porches and into victim’s apartment making the conditions “immediately untenable.”
LPD: Blood belonged to a deer
You may recall that about a month ago, we reported that the Londonderry Police Department was investigating a pool of blood found at the Crossroads Plaza. Well, it turns out that there was no foul play involved. After testing, the blood was determined not to be human and Londonderry’s finest discovered it belonged to a large deer that had been struck by a vehicle in the area of Route 1 0 2 and Mammoth Road. Police believe the deer staggered around for a bit before it ultimately died, leaving the trail and pool of blood in the Crossroads Plaza parking lot. The department said the incident was investigated as a potential major crime and given the same set of circumstances, it would be investigated the same way if it happened again.

Powerball winner bought in Raymond
Thanks to the Powerball jackpot, the town of Raymond has become the center of the universe. Officials have confirmed that the winning ticket, worth four hundred eighty seven million dollars, was sold at the Hannaford Supermarket on Freetown Road. They’re now waiting for the winner to come forward. So, if you bought your ticket there, you might want to check your numbers! Lottery officials say it’s the tenth time a winning Powerball ticket sold in New Hampshire and the first since 2007.
Gatsas: Will make NH business friendly
Republican gubernatorial candidate Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas announced he will release a comprehensive plan to strengthen and grow New Hampshire’s economy. Gatsas said his plan will take his experience as a “self-made business man “and put it to work for the state, “making it the most business friendly in the country.” He’s hosting a press conference to present the plan this morning at the Nashua Millyard Technology Park at ten o’clock.
Manchester Police: More cruisers needed
The Manchester Police Department is looking for the city to spring for another ten police vehicles. In a letter to the Committee on the Community Improvement Program, Assistant Police Chief Carlo Capano said the current vehicle fleet is virtually in constant use, making even routine maintenance difficult. The department is looking for five unmarked Ford Fusions at a cost of ninety thousand dollars and five Ford Explorers at a cost of one hundred ninety seven thousand bucks.
A man locked out of his apartment at 2 3 4 Lake Ave. fell three floors and landed on a fence after he decided to climb up the side of the building. According to witnesses interviewed by photojournalist Jeffrey Hastings, the fellow made it to the third floor but lost his grip when he attempted to open a window to enter the apartment. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to the nearby Elliot Hospital Trauma Center. There’s a Spiderman joke in here somewhere, but I just can’t bring myself to look for it.
