Livingston: Input requested on search for successor
H Y A Associates, the firm hired by the Manchester Board of School Committee to conduct the search for its next superintendent, would like to hear from the community about what it’s looking for in its next superintendent. The public is invited to attend any of the three open forums scheduled this week for tomorrow night, Wednesday and Thursday nights at six thirty. All three forums will be held in the School Administration Office at 1 9 5 McGregor Street. To access the second floor office, enter the Center Tower of the building. Bedford Police Chief John Bryfonski announced the arrest of three men suspected of breaking into vehicles last week. The town has been beset by vehicle break ins and the department has issued multiple alerts urging people to lock their car doors, even in their driveways and garages. Arrested were forty two year old Matthew Pedley of Londonderry, along with two Bedford brothers, twenty four year old Mark O’Neil and twenty six year old Dan O’Neil. All three are known to police and charged with a variety of crimes including, Breach of Bail Conditions, Prowling, Possession of Drugs, and Receiving Stolen Property, among others. The cops caught the trio after pulling them over for a yellow line violation on Joppa Hill Road at 5 A M on Thursday.
Bedford’s finest are again reminding the town’s residents to lock their cars and remove valuables, at least from plain sight. Rubens: Proposes cuts
G O P senate candidate Jim Rubens released a budget plan he says will help bring the budget into balance. The plan includes several hundred billion in budget cuts, including discontinuing the what Rubens called the failed one point four trillion dollar F-35 fighter jet. Rubens also said he would save one hundred twenty billion dollars by eliminating all land-based nuclear weapons. Rubens suggested a package of one hundred fifty billion in federal health care cost reductions, replacing the costly and failed drug war with treatment on demand, and three procedural routes to a balanced budget.
Said Rubens, quote:
“New Hampshire needs a U.S. Senator with the backbone to stand up to the lobbyists and crony capitalists and stave off impending economic chaos. The acid test for conservative candidates is willingness to show backbone and get specific on big dollar spending cuts.”

Auburn: Fireworks ordinance up for approval
The town of Auburn Board of Selectmen will meet tonight. On their agenda are previously reported regulations on fireworks in town. Under the ordinance, a person who is 21 years of age or older may display permissible fireworks on private property with the written consent of the owner or in the owner’s presence, subject to the provisions of the ordinance and state law. The ordinance would limit when fireworks could be used to between the hours of Noon and 11 on Fridays and Saturdays in the months of June and July and between the hours of Noon and 10 on Sunday through Thursday between the months of August through May. That said, permissible fireworks, those once known as Class C fireworks, shall be permitted only on Labor Day and the Fourth of July including the evening of July 3rd and New Year’s Eve beginning at Noon until 1 A M on January 1st.
No permit will be required for the display of permissible consumer fireworks, but for the big stuff, you’ll need the town’s blessings via the fire chief or his designee. If the ordinance passes, either the fire Chief or police chiefs may suspend the use of the permissible fireworks for a variety of reasons, including quote “unfavorable weather conditions.” Violations of the ordinance are punishable by fines not exceed Five Hundred dollars per day for the first offense; Seven Hundred and Fifty dollars per day for the second offense, and One Thousand dollars per day for the third or greater offense. Violators may be assessed additional fines for each day the violation continues.
Public meeting for trail announced
The town of Merrimack Public Works Department is hosting a Local Concerns Meeting for the Souhegan River Multi Use Path project on the evening of June 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 in the Matthew Thornton Room. Merrimack was awarded a Federal Transportation Alternatives Program grant to construct twenty five hundred feet of multi-use trail that would connect Watson Park to the pedestrian bridge adjacent to the Merrill’s Marauders Bridge crossing the Souhegan River adjacent to the turnpike. The Local Concerns Meeting is the town’s opportunity to obtain comments, questions, and concerns from the public with respect to the project.
