Testing and technology took center stage today as Sid shared his ideas about both how these issues are playing themselves out in our schools. The testing focus was on the scores of our students on the meaningless International tests known as PISA. Sid asked his audience to be skeptical of the scores that will be reported soon and be especially skeptical of how they are reported in the mainstream media. Technology in our schools is the result of a computer-business juggernaut rather the result of well-thought out educational decisions that should work for the benefit of our students. One would be hard pressed to find an unbiased, acceptable piece of research that describes any improvement in student performance because of technology. The bottom line —- the public has been ripped-off!
