Today, Congressman Frank Guinta announced his intention to run for re-election to represent New Hampshire’s First District in Congress. He issued the following statement:
“I first ran for office because I have a passion for public service, an interest to give back, to create a better future for generations to come. Always, I have sought to better serve our cities, our state and our nation, fighting to make Washington work for Granite Staters, and I am proud of the successes we have had in 2015.
Last year, I founded the Bipartisan Task Force to Combat the Heroin Epidemic and introduced eight bipartisan bills with eight different Democrats, successfully moving several major pieces of legislation through the House of Representatives and into law.
As I begin a new campaign with a focus on job creation, economic growth and opportunities for Granite Staters, I am especially grateful for the support of my family, friends and supporters, and am looking forward to a great 2016.”
Rep. Guinta, who has raised $632,623.02 this cycle, raised $71,435.48 in the most recent fundraising quarter—for a total of $367,171.41 cash on hand—also announced that he has repaid the personal loan made to his campaign in 2010, and fulfilled the terms of his conciliation agreement with the FEC.
Rep. Frank Guinta’s Accomplishments in 2015:
Assisting Granite Staters
  • Responded to over 56,000 letters, emails and phone calls from concerned constituents
  • Closed 326 local casework files to help Granite Staters navigate governmental bureaucracy
  • Hosted 13 town halls and 7 tele-town halls
  • Hosted two job fairs. One in Manchester for the general public and one in Portsmouth, specific to veterans. More than 80 companies and over 200 people attended
Leadership with Results
  • Introduced HR 879, the “Ax the Tax” legislation to repeal ObamaCare’s 40 percent tax on middle class families’ health care benefits. Congress passed a two-year delay, preventing public and private sector wage and job losses
  • Introduced HR 1737, to maintain flexible auto-financing rates for car buyers, a potential savings of over $500 for each buyer. The House of Representatives passed this legislation by an overwhelmingly bipartisan margin
  • Founded the Bipartisan Task Force to Combat the Heroin Epidemic, which now includes 24 Democrat and 28 Republican members from around the country
    • Assembled medical and law enforcement experts at hearings in Washington and Concord to develop the best prevention, treatment and policing programs to fight heroin addiction
    • Rep. Guinta’s STOP ABUSE Act would increase federal, state and local cooperation to target high intensity drug trafficking corridors and also improve governmental response to the public health crisis
  • Authored two amendments to increase funding for drug treatment courts, as well as to prevent closure of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The House of Representatives passed both unanimously
  • Authored an amendment that passed the House of Representatives to redirect misspent dollars directly to fishermen who have been devastated by government overreach
More Bipartisan Work
  • Authored eight bipartisan bills with eight different Democrats
  • Introduced HR 4140, the SENIORS Act, with Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-D) to provide a completely paid cost-of-living-adjustment to Social Security beneficiaries, who will receive no COLA increase this year
  • Introduced HR 4384- Veterans Administration Bonus Elimination Act, with Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-D) to prevent bonuses to senior Veterans Administration officials who fail to meet reasonable standards of care for U.S. military veterans
  • Introduced HR 3719- The Stop the Overdose Problem Already Becoming a Universal Substance Epidemic (STOP ABUSE) Act, with Rep. Ann Kuster (NH-D). The bill promotes a comprehensive approach to the nationwide heroin epidemic
  • Introduced HR 941- VA Choice Bill with Rep. Ann Kuster (NH-D), which allows veterans living in New Hampshire, where no full-service VA facility exists, to seek private care
  • Introduced H. Res. 45 with Congresswoman Graham (FL-D) to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in government
  • Introduced HR 3534 the AUDIT Act with Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-D) to audit the government and demanding accountability for wasteful programs
  • Cosponsored the 21st Century Cures Act, which passed the House of Representatives in overwhelming bipartisan fashion, delivering much needed funding to medical research
  • Supported the first long term transportation reauthorization in a decade, which will bring New Hampshire $170.4 million annually over the life of the bill
Independent Leadership for New Hampshire
  • Voted against the Budget Agreement which set federal budget levels for Fiscal Years 2016 and 2017 that dramatically increased federal spending
  • Voted against the 2000+ page, $1.1 trillion Omnibus appropriations bill passed by Congress last December
  • Voted against a federal debt limit increase that will cause our $19 trillion debt to surge even higher
  • Voted against the USA Freedom Act, an extension of the PATRIOT Act, to protect Granite Staters’ civil liberties
  • Fought for increased funding to the Land and Water Conservation Fund, in order to preserve New Hampshire’s lakes, rivers, and streams, as well as the state’s vital tourism industry
