(Hour 3b, c) Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas has officially entered the race for re-election and he came in for another entertaining duel with our ever-humble host. Topics include alternative education and YDC, Common Core (or Career and College Readiness), educational waivers, our new Superintendent Dr. Livingston, a new parking garage downtown and more!
This one gets heated and Rich asks the Mayor straight up: Why is the public not involved in the dialogue surrounding Common Core? Mayor Ted Gatsas responds. Hear it all for yourself.
Our segment with His Honor is sponsored by The Derryfield Restaurant.
Mayor Gatsas needs to be consistent. He can’t champion the plight of students forced to take inappropriate high-stakes assessments, while championing Common Core, which mandates those same inappropriate high-stakes assessments.
Ayuh!
Two things come to mind here. 1) if YOU cannot fully grasp Common Core, I guarantee that most of the BOSC does NOT understand it and therefore will not have a public discussion. 2) BOSC has been using these “special meetings” for controversial matters without opportunity for public comment.
