Jim Stergios, executive director of the Pioneer Institute in Boston discussed with Sid the contents of their new publication, “Drilling Through the Core: Why Common Core is Bad for American Education.” The deleterious effects of the Common Core Standards which involved the excessive high-stakes testing, loss of local control, the huge expenditures to implement the Common Core Standards and the unaccountable investments in technology to support Common Core and its testing components formed the central themes of today’s conversation.
