Sununu: Announces for governor

Executive Councilor Chris Sununu, the man who angered abortion advocates by voting against a six hundred thousand dollar contract for Planned Parenthood, after undercover videos surfaced showing they were harvesting and selling parts from the dead children, yesterday announced he would be a candidate for governor of New Hampshire.  Speaking at the Salem Republican Committee Labor Day Picnic, Sununu said he would be a problem solver and offer a new brand of leadership.  Quote

“I’m running for governor, because we need to close the opportunity gap that Democratic governors have slid us into over the past two decades.  We must end the expansive policies of government that are stifling economic growth in our state. As governor, I will work to reestablish an economic climate that will provide dependable, high-paying jobs, and develop pro-growth initiatives to stop the loss of skilled workers and young people to other states.”

Sununu was first elected to the Executive Council in 2010, and reelected by wide margins in 2012 and 2014.

An environmental engineer by trade and business owner with 700 employees in the North Country, Sununu said that strengthening education would be a priority and a necessary step toward closing the opportunity gap.

“I will veto a sales or income tax, but that pledge is not enough. Unlike the Democratic governors of the past, I will make sure that pledge is not used as an excuse to expand other taxes and fees.”

There was OOOHHH sooo much more in Sununu’s statement which we’ve published in full at Girard at Large dot com and linked to from this news read for your convenience.

In July, State Representative Frank Edelblut, Republican from Wilton, announced he was exploring a run for governor.

When police arrived, they found the car on its roof and Eric dead inside.  Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the accident as Nicholas lost control of the vehicle on a curve in the road.  He was arrested and charged with Negligent Homicide and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated among others and was held on $50,000 cash bail.  He will be arraigned this morning in Merrimack District Court.

Metzler: Playing hide and seek with public documents...again

Metzler: Playing hide and seek with public documents…again

Right to Know Requests are again flying in S A U Fifty Five, which employs Superintendent Earl F. Metzler, II and includes the Timberlane Regional and Hampstead school districts.  After refusing to provide her with a copy of a photocopier lease singled out in the district’s independent financial audit, school board member Donna Green of Sandown filed the Right to Know Request and was subsequently charged five dollars and fifty cents for a copy of the contract.  One would think elected officials would be entitled to the contracts entered into by their subordinates.

Green: Asking for information

Green: Asking for information

Anyway, the rather curious contract was incomplete, leading to yet another Right to Know Request, the results of which are still unknown.  Green has requested a review of the audit by the school board, with the auditors present, to discuss what she believes are over expenditures in the SAU’s budget and a serious adverse opinion by the auditor.  S A U School Board Chair Peter Bealo has yet to acknowledge the request.

Horns: Timberlane SB threatens lawsuit

Meanwhile, the Timberlane Regional School Board is threatening to sue Danville Selectman Josh Horns, who was appointed by the Danville Board of Selectmen to serve on the Timberlane Regional School District Budget Committee.  Seems they think there’s a conflict of interest, though state law seems to disagree there’s a so called incompatibility of offices.

Steenson: Thou shalt sit where told!

Steenson:  Musical chairs

That might have something to do with why Board Chair Nancy Steenson had something of a meltdown at Thursday’s meeting, demanding Donna Green, among others, sit in a different chair.  Green suggested she call the police if she didn’t like where she was sitting,  which, of course, didn’t happen.
