Sunday, March 29 – PALM SUNDAY

10:30 a.m. Mass

The first day of Holy Week, with Mass recalling the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem.

 

Tuesday, March 31 – TUESDAY OF HOLY WEEK

6:00 p.m. Chrism Mass

Bishop Peter A. Libasci, celebrant

The Bishop blesses oils used in Sacraments, including Baptism, Confirmation, the Ordination of Priests, and the Anointing of the Sick. Priests renew their promises made at ordination.

 

Wednesday, April 1 – WEDNESDAY OF HOLY WEEK

7:30 p.m. Office of Tenebrae

Monsignor Anthony R. Frontiero, celebrant

Tenebrae, which means “shadows,” includes Scripture readings and the progressive extinguishing of fifteen candles that evokes the coming death of Christ.

 

Thursday, April 2 – HOLY THURSDAY

7:00 p.m. Mass of the Lord’s Supper

Mass commemorates the institution of the priesthood and the Holy Eucharist. The Bishop washes the feet of twelve diocesan seminarians, recalling the actions of Jesus in the Gospel of John.

 

Friday, April 3 – GOOD FRIDAY

3:00 p.m. Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion

The celebration of the Lord’s Passion takes place with Scripture readings, adoration of the cross, and the receiving of Holy Communion.

 

Saturday, April 4 – HOLY SATURDAY

8:00 p.m. Easter Vigil Mass

After sunset, the Bishop celebrates the greatest of the Church’s solemnities. The Bishop blesses a fire representing God’s glory, Catholics renew their faith, and those preparing to become Catholics are received into the Church.
