(Hour 3b) The Manchester School Board officially approved the Manchester Academic Standards this week. Ann Marie Banfield shared her disappointment on a school district that seemed intent on “settling for Common Core’s mediocre standards.”
Was Superintendent Debra Livingston simply carrying out the will of the person who recommended her, NH DOE Commissioner Virginia Barry?
Banfield criticized the “non-transparent process” that shut parents out while inviting a Common Core testing consultant in.
One big question still remains unanswered. What was wrong with the old NH standards?
(Hour 3c) Banfield cited the shutting down of dialogue on the Ask the School Board Facebook page by SB member John Avard. All part of what has become a polarizing debate on Common Core.
Banfield claims it’s not about politics. It’s about the S-T-A-N-D-A-R-D-S and she pointed to folks from both sides of the aisle that are rising up against Common Core. Why is the Manchester School Board ignoring the mounting evidence from all across America?
“The private elite schools are not using (Common Core) standards. They want something better. There is no reason that Manchester can’t do the same. And it can be done without wasting taxpayer dollars.”
