(Hour 2c) Judy Loubier of Seniors Helping Seniors NH shared some recent statistics. Over 22,000 seniors in NH suffer from dementia. A little under 5,000 beds are available to care for those seniors.
The balance are cared for in their homes. Loubier believes that the familiar comforts of home are ideal for such care.
There are risks, however. Sixty percent of seniors wander from their homes and many of those seniors are seriously injured.
Or worse.
Loubier educated us on the indicators and predictable patterns to watch for to help prevent the seniors we love from wandering.
