Girard at Large has learned that Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas hopes to present a tentative agreement to the Manchester School Board at its meeting on Monday night. Gatsas confirmed that he’d had a two hour meeting with representatives of the Association of Manchester Principals on Thursday saying that the meeting was productive and positive.
At the time, Gatsas said he expected another meeting on Friday or Saturday and he was hopeful that a tentative agreement would be reached in time for Monday’s meeting. Gatsas did not return our call for comment on Sunday.
The AMP followed the lead of the Manchester Education Association when it rejected the contract extension negotiated with the mayor. However, unlike the teachers, the principals’ returned to the table and continued discussions. Girard at Large has exchanged several phone calls with AMP President Rick Norton, but, as of this writing, had not spoken with him.
Gatsas was tight lipped in an interview on Thursday, refusing to disclose any details of the potential pacts. He did confirm, however, that the basic construct of the changes to the city’s health plan remained intact.
