State Representative Frank Edelblut, Republican from Wilton, a member of the House Children and Family Law Committee, has called on Attorney General Joseph Foster to investigate Planned Parenthood. In a statement released on Friday, Edelblut said quote
“In light of the seriousness of these disclosures, I have asked the New Hampshire Attorney General to open an investigation to set all minds at ease that none of these potentially illegal activities have taken place in New Hampshire. New Hampshire has worked hard to ensure compliance with Federal statutes that restrict Planned Parenthood from using tax dollars for prohibited services. While there is no indication that this line has been crossed in our state, given the gravity of Planned Parenthood’s recent self-disclosures about the potential illegal sale of body parts, I have also called upon Governor Hassan to appoint a bipartisan commission to help put minds at ease and determine that New Hampshire tax dollars were not used in these alleged illegal activities.”
In a related story, Kentucky Senator and G O P presidential candidate Rand Paul issued a statement last week saying he would use “all legislative vehicles at his disposal to ensure there is immediate action” on his proposal to strip Planned Parenthood of its federal funding, which was nearly five hundred thirty million dollars in the two thousand thirteen, fourteen budget. In a statement released late last week, Paul said quote
“I am more appalled than ever by Planned Parenthood’s complete disregard for the sanctity of human life. The recent revelation that this taxpayer-funded organization is selling body parts of the unborn further proves that this agency deserves our scorn not our tax dollars. I plan to do whatever I can to stop them and will introduce an amendment to pending Senate legislation to immediately strip every dollar of Planned Parenthood funding.”
There has been a lot of reaction to the deadly shooting at a military recruiting station in Chattanooga, TN. It would appear by the reactions that just about everybody outside of the media and the administration believe it was an act of terror. Among the releases from G O P presidential candidates, was one Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who said quote “It’s time for the White House to wake up and tell the truth…and the truth is that Radical Islam is at war with us, and we must start by being honest about that.”
Texas Senator Ted Cruz said the country can’t afford to wait six years to recognize what happened in Chattanooga, referencing, as did Jindal, the administration’s characterization of the two thousand nine attack at Fort Hood in Texas as quote “workplace violence.”
Then, there was the statement from former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore which read, in part quote
“Americans and their government must come to the realization that we are in a new type of warfare. A warfare where our homeland is as much the battlefield as ground overseas…The new terrorist threat will include many assailants who will be following the lead and urging of ISIS without actually having to have contact or direction from the terrorist organization. I call on the Department of Defense to immediately change policy and require, for every member of the armed forces on domestic U.S. soil, to have the ability to defend themselves in their workplace and in performance of their duties. Unlike other nations, the United States is better prepared to fight this new type of war. The 2nd Amendment allows us all to become defenders of our freedoms…I want our God given Constitutional rights to work to our advantage. Law enforcement can’t be everywhere, but the American people are more than capable of defending themselves if allowed.”

The fun continues in Timberlane. Seems our predictions about how the town of Sandown’s withdrawal feasibility committee would be stymied by the Timberlane Regional School District were spot on. Girard at Large has learned that Sandown Committee Chairman Cindy Buco has made several requests for information of Timberlane Committee Chairman Rob Collins, who has basically told her to go file a Right to Know Request. You may recall that the Timberlane Regional School Board said all requests from the Sandown Committee would have to go through their committee before being fulfilled. Well, since there is no meeting of their committee scheduled, Buco asked Collins when the committee would meet and, in the absence of a meeting, to provide the data they need to continue their evaluation. The answer was there is no plan to meet and a Right to Know Request, therefore, would be the only way for them to get info. This from a guy who, in a recent rant on Facebook, went off about how people in the district used to be able to pick up the phone and ask questions or otherwise resolve issues with one another. Nice to see they’re being true to form.
