(Hour 2b)
Derry Town Administrator Galen Sterns has effectively refused to reduce costs by ignoring the Council’s instructions. Residences are reportedly furious at this, and wonder whether the administration understands that his job is to facilitate the Council’s recommendations, not the other way around.
The fire and police unions continue to use scare tactics in an attempt to continue funding at the current levels, and cite the mutual aid calls to sway the discussion in their favor. Is Galen Sterns guilty of insubordination?

The dept heads make recommendations on what they need to run their dept for the year. The Administrator by charter comes in with his budget, what he feels he needs to run the town properly. Its the T.C. job to then make the cuts or additions. To say that Sterns did not follow with what the council wanted and should be fired is crazy.
BTW. Dover has a higher town side tax rate than Derry does. even with four stations.
I’m tired of outside people who don’t know past history information making judgements. Ive lived in town for 30 years. Three term state rep. Three term town councilor and 10 year planning board member. You need to get the full story to make a well thought out comment.
As a former Town Councilor, are you telling me the Town Administrator can ignore a directive from the Town Council, which he did and which is why I said he should be fired?
