The truth of the matter is, all this CRAP has been in our schools for DECADES… whether it’s been named or NOT. Thank God parents are waking up even at this late point. 40 years people!!!!!!!! This is not ‘common core’ but common practice!
If the “common core” says that 5th graders must be fluent with multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers, am I not going to teach that because it’s under a title of “common core”? Am I not going to use a practice paper because it says “common core” but all it is is multiplication practice? Yes, there is a lot of “bad stuff” out there and a teacher must be discerning. But most everything says common core on it because that’s what most of the country is using. There is a lot under the common core title that I would never use, but there is a lot I might. It doesn’t mean I’m teaching to the common core, it just means I’m teaching what I know must be taught at a particular grade level.
