(Hour 1 b & c, 2a, 3a) Kevin Cornish, the owner of KC’s Rib Shack, speaks out about KC’s outdoor deck being shut down by the City. Did Manchester go too far? Rich certainly thinks so. This is MUST LISTEN.
Kevin has been using the outside dining area for 14 years, but recently converted his portable bar to a permanent tiki bar (on the Key West Side of Manchester). The health department came in, made a series of unreasonable requests, and then Manchester’s Building Department issued a Cease and Desist order to shut the outdoor area down. Then Alderman Phil Greazzo and Mayor Ted Gatsas got involved.

Owning a Business downtown manchester, we can’t move out fast enough, it’s sad to say but Manchester has become the most unfriendly anti business town I have ever seen. Every customer I ask about manchester it’s all negative. Parking, crime, homeless, lack of retail. Manchester has some great history and character but from a business stand point we cannot stay here.
Sorry to hear and sad to say.
Wow Closed one of the most fun and relaxing places down, as a tourist who stumbled across KCs looking for good food, I found far more then that, Friendly staff willing to chat and talk about the town, GREAT BBQ, relaxing and casual atmosphere, as a TOURIST I was looking for exactly this to relax on my weekend in Manchester, I was there on Business and dined at several places and KCs was a highlight of my trip, THE PATIO WAS FUN, its was open air, relaxing, fun staff, fun people….its crazy to end something thats standing out as FUN, ATTRACTIVE AND WORTHY of a tourists and businessmans dollars…sorry to hear of your burglary, PLEASE let this Tiki bar reopen, its a great place to meet, relax and eat.
They’ve allowed the patio to reopen, but restricted it’s occupancy to less than 1/3 of it’s originally approved capacity pending resolution of outstanding issues. Hopefully our efforts will push public officials to reign in these abuses and create safeguards against them. Manchester’s not the only community that suffers from regulatory harassment, but blind eyes have been turned here for far too long. Help us rally troops to the cause by sharing the story and mobilizing those who feel as you do! Thanks!
whether the city fathers realize it or not TOURISTS enjoy places like KCs and with its great food and great atmosphere was again a highlite to my trip from the overpriced under delivering chain food that I so often have to eat. Why cant the powers that be realize that some business owners arent out to poison the town with a bucket, realizing that codes and health depts all have a job to keep us safe and we respect that, But dont be so gosh darn ridgid that you force a business to lose money, after all TAXES is what pays there salarys and keeps the Health and Code depts open, Working together achieves harmoney and builds trust, not harsh penaltys that take money out of a mans pocket….Im from St Louis Ill be in your town again and Ill be going straight to KCs for my meals and relaxation.
The only thing the city has to do is release the pit bulls and Whamo!! You are out of business or out of money.
